Jeanette T. "Janet" Yonker, 89, of 155 W. Mill St., Ridgway, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at her home.
She was born Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1925, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Clara Young Neubert.
On July 30, 1960 in St. Benedict's in Daguscahonda, she married Paul Yonker, who survives.
A win for Elk County Catholic boys basketball over a state-ranked rival gave ECC the No. 1 seed in the Elk County Holiday Tournament this weekend. Perhaps early Christmas presents for ECC and their supporters, perhaps a figurative lump of coal for the Elkers and their fans.
Elk County Catholic remained undefeated with a 57-43 win at Ridgway Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Johnsonburg junior Kevin Benson (24 points) and senior Zane Hodgdon (15 points) combined Tuesday night to outscore the Kane Wolves basketball team (1-3) in a 69-36 win in the Paper City.

JAY TWP. â€“ A Benezette resident has been charged with the theft of various pieces of jewelry, including items of sentimental value to Denise Lorraine Bahl, 55, of Force.
Robert Joseph Wehner, 46, of Benezette was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property when another acquaintance, Earnest Caldarelli, searched Wehner's belongings and found him to be in possession of Bahl's jewelry as well as jewelry belonging to Caldarelli. Wehner reportedly told police that he wasn't present when they went through his suitcase and doesn't know where the jewelry came from.
Margaret H. Casolo, 95, of 410 N. Broad St. in Ridgway, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born Oct. 6, 1919 in Bordell, daughter of the late John and Louis Abbott Hooper.
She married Michael Casolo on Jan. 9, 1960, he survives.
Margaret Casolo was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and she had been employed as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Bradford, and as a sales clerk for G.C. Murphy's in Ridgway. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ While some passes slipped away from Johnsonburg boys basketball Monday night, the Rams made sure the game didn't.
Johnsonburg closed out the game on a 12-5 run to take a 60-53 victory over North Clarion at Johnsonburg Area High School.
The Rams outscored North Clarion 23-12 in the fourth quarter.
Ridgway wrestling used a multitude of bonus points to take a 51-21 win over Port Allegany in a dual meet held Saturday afternoon at Ridgway Area High School.
Ridgway picked up five forfeits and a pin to help overtake the Gators.
The 32nd Annual Christmas Day Happening event will be held Thursday, Dec. 25 beginning at noon at the Central Fire Station along North Broad Street in Ridgway.
The event serves "to provide a Christmas meal to community members who would otherwise be spending the holiday alone," according to event organizer Karen Lundin. The event is an "afternoon of socializing with old friends and new acquaintances, a splendid meal, and delightful entertainment, all free of charge. Over the years, guests and volunteers who have gathered together on Christmas Day in Ridgway have become a family."
The brainstorm of volunteer/maintenance worker John Youngmark, the Ridgway Salvation Army held its first annual Kettle-A-Thon Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in front of their office at 245 West Main St.
Ridgway girls basketball defeated the Lady Owls but balanced scoring had the Lady Elkers' offense in a sense of harmony.
Ridgway girls basketball broke a five-game losing streak to start the season with a 56-35 victory over the Harmony Lady Owls Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
