ST. MARYS â€“ A part of Sunday's Community Celebration honoring the Benedictine Sisters of Elk County is a detailed program featuring a listing of each of the 281 sisters who served at St. Joseph Monastery throughout its 162-year history.
Those attending the service will receive a small 15-page program complete with vespers service details, program information and listings of each sister who served in St. Marys, their date of birth and death if applicable, locations of where they transferred and additional monastery information.
Samantha Beaver Family Child Care, a child care facility run by Samantha Beaver, 27, of Ridgway, recently opened its doors in November of 2013. She operates the facility in conjunction with Darlene Beaver, who has over 35 years in childcare experience and is currently in the process of attaining an associates degree in child development.
ST. MARYS â€“ The Elkers (18-6) exacted a measure of revenge and then some with a dominating 47-21 victory Friday night against the Cameron County Red Raiders (20-3) in the District 9 Class A quarterfinal held at St. Marys Area High School.
KANE â€“ Early on, a Johnsonburg win seemed like it would be a slam dunk.
After Cameron Grumley's third dunk of the night, it was for Johnsonburg.
Grumley finished with a game-high 27 points and had three one-handed jams as Johnsonburg won 79-47 over Coudersport Friday night at Kane High School in the District 9 Class A boys basketball quarterfinal.
