Elkers lose 55-9 to Redbank Valley

Redbank Valley wrestling won 55-9 over Ridgway in a dual meet held at Ridgway Area High School Thursday night.
Redbank Valley won eight of the 10 matches wrestled on the mat and picked up four wins via forfeit for the dual victory.

Rams fall to Smethport

JOHNSONBURG – Four wins by fall to go with five forfeits was more than enough Thursday night as Smethport won 57-14 in a dual meet over the Johnsonburg Rams.
Junior Cody Duchi and senior Matt Reeves won by fall at 120 and 182 pounds, respectively, and senior Justin Haupright earned a decision at 220 pounds for the Rams.

Scarnati: ‘Obsolete’ state pension must go

ST. MARYS – A partisan Legislature still appears to stand in the way of state pension reform as “revenues in the Commonwealth continue to lag behind growing expenses,” one such expense being an “unsustainable” pension plan, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson).
Rising pension costs are expected to hover around $2 billion for next year’s budget, up from $1.4 billion for fiscal year 2013.
Representing the 25th District, Scarnati on Thursday morning said it appears the system is broke.

CAPSEA fundraiser sees new changes

The Polar Sweet Express vendor show is coming to Ridgway this year as the event will be held at the Central Fire Hall on North Broad Street for the first time since it began four years ago.
On Saturday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. visitors can peruse a plethora of products at booths showcasing jewelry, candles, crafts, primitive decor, cosmetics, children's clothing and accessories, wine, purses, wreaths and homemade soaps to embroidery items, doll clothing, sweets such as candy and kettle corn, furniture, cookware and aprons.

O2 Investment Partners acquires Alpha Sintered Metals

Alpha Sintered Metals, Inc., based in Ridgway, announced Thursday that O2 Investment Partners, LLC, a Midwest-based private equity firm located in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and Alpha’s existing management team have acquired the business from Cyprium Partners located in Cleveland, Ohio. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Alpha Sintered Metals, Inc., is a premier manufacturer of high-precision powdered metal components and assemblies for the automotive, small engine, recreational vehicle, lawn & garden, commercial vehicle, and agricultural equipment industries.
