Margaret J. Reynolds

Margaret J. Reynolds, 66, of 120 Fraley St., passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys.
Born July 14, 1946, in Warren, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Melva Roades Seth Sr.
Mrs. Reynolds had worked as an aide at the Lutheran Home at Kane. Prior to that, she had been employed by Sylvania and the former Kane Diner.
She was a member of the Kane VFW Lodge #1132, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie # 307, and had belonged to the former Moose Club in Kane.

Charlie Morgan

CW2 Charlie Morgan, 48, of the New Hampshire National Guard passed away on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends at the time of her passing. She lived in New Durham, N.H. with her wife Karen and daughter Casey Elena. Charlie was a veteran who deployed to Kuwait in 2010 and received a Meritorious Service Medal for her work as the Brigade Equal Opportunity Advisor. She was a board member of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and Outserve who fought tirelessly for marriage equality and human rights.

Milliard seeking 'complete and accurate' criminal history

The defense attorney for a Ridgway man charged with federal weapons possession has asked the court for more time to compile a more "accurate and complete" account of his client's criminal history before the matter is taken to trial.

JOHNSONBURG – Corporal Greg Agosti, a fire marshal for the Ridgway-based State Police, reported investigating a fire that occurred Sunday afternoon at 236 Blaine Ave. in Johnsonburg.

Jury selection continued in Danz trial

ERIE – Jury selection in the trial of Richard Allen Danz, 48, of St. Marys, federally indicted on charges of wire fraud and money laundering, will commence in federal court in Erie during the court term beginning May 6, 2013.

Girl Scouts planning military park trip

The St. Marys Neighborhood Girls Scouts are busy planning their upcoming trip to the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park. The educational trip, taking place May 10-11, is open to all area scouts and their female family and friends as they tour the park, dine and sleep over in a battleship and visit Niagara Falls.

Ramettes fall in opener in PIAA playoffs

ALTOONA – Johnsonburg girls basketball lost 47-26 to Bishop Guilfoyle in the first round of the PIAA Class A girls basketball playoffs held Saturday at Altoona High School.
Coming into the game, the Ramettes knew they would have a challenge coming in against the Lady Marauders (25-2), the District 6 champion.
"To play that tough with a No. 1 seed, I told my girls 'I've never been so proud of you,'" Johnsonburg coach Mike Zilkofski said. "You hung in with them all game. I told them I was proud of the season they had and what they accomplished and to not hang their heads low."

Johnsonburg advances to second round with rout

CLARION – It didn't take long for Johnsonburg to assert its will over Eisenhower.
After an emphatic opening block from Cameron Grumley on the game's first sequence, the Rams sprinted to a 17-7 first-quarter lead en route to a 62-30 win over the Knights Friday night in the first round of the PIAA Class A boys' basketball playoffs held at Clarion University.
Grumley swatted an opening layup from Aaron Lundmark off the opening tip.
"I don't know if that took them out of the game right there but it was a message, sure," Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said. "It was definitely a message."
