Ridgway volleyball won 3-1 (25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 25-8) over Kane Tuesday night at Ridgway Area HIgh School.
The Lady Elkers scored the first three points of the match, two points coming on Dani Shirey tips. Ridgway scored three straight points on two Kane errors and a Mandie Leithner kill. Leithner had 17 kills for the Lady Elkers.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ After dropping the second game Tuesday night, the visiting Lady Dutch regrouped to dispatch the Ramettes 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20) on the volleyball court in Johnsonburg.
Following an executive session late Monday night, members of the Ridgway Borough Council voted 4-3 to hire Kim Zimmerman as the new borough manager, taking over for Marty Schuller who retired.
At a borough council meeting Monday evening, Environmental Manager Paul McCurdy spoke of the possibility of a waterline replacement grant which could net up to $2.1 million. The grant application has been submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development [DCED].
PORT ALLEGANY â€“ Port Allegany won its first game of the season Saturday afternoon with an 8-6 victory over Ridgway Saturday afternoon on Homecoming at Port Allegany High School.
ST. MARYS â€“ Policy resolutions on issues important to agriculture and rural living were adopted at the Elk County Farm Bureau annual meeting, held Sept. 14 at Gunnerâ€™s Restaurant in St. Marys.
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch and Ridgway Lady Elkers faced off for the second time in three days on Friday afternoon as they battled in an opening round match of the 15th annual Bucktail Girls Soccer Tournament at the SMAHS soccer field. Ridgway picked up right where they left off on Wednesday, shutting out St. Marys 5-0 on Friday afternoon to advance to the championship game today at 12 p.m.
