"Mickey Mouse," "Anyone but this guy," "What?" and "Who?" were among the write-in votes penned by Elk County balloters in the May 22 municipal primary, according to results obtained through the Elk County Elections Office Friday.
EMPORIUM – On Nov. 5, 2012, a woman walked into the Cameron County Probation Office holding a shipment of stimulant "bath salts" intended for her son, which she had intercepted and wanted turned over to police.
Grace A. Dietz, 100, of 1529 Front St., Ridgway, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 26, 1913, in Instanter, the daughter of Leonard and Margaret Kemmer Wright.
She married Carl A. Dietz on Nov. 6, 1937 in St. Leo’s Church, he predeceased her in death on Feb. 5, 2000.
June 6th
Two teens have been charged in a crime spree that spanned two days and most of Ridgway Borough and which police say began with the vandalization of parked cars, progressed to their burglarization of an apartment building, and ended with the twosome joyriding in a stolen car.
The Ridgway Township Municipal Authority has completed an upgrade to their four-year-old control system.
June 5th
This weekend students of April School of Dance will take to the stage to showcase their year-long efforts as part of the school's annual recital, "Color Me Dance," taking place on Friday and Saturday evening at St. Marys Area High School auditorium.
WILCOX – A 63-year-old Wilcox man has been charged with stalking a 22-year-old woman in what can only be described as a baffling string of events that police say resulted in the victim abandoning her home "out of fear."
The conglomeration of 9-1-1 systems in nine counties, including Elk, is nearing completion with the final counties set to be "online" or fully operational by June 25.
In an effort to decrease crime in the Borough of Ridgway, concerned residents have formed a community watch group.
June 4th
ST. MARYS – At 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening, police and tactical officers poured into Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys in response to reports of a man with a gun and eight shot inside a wing of the hospital.
