EMPORIUM – A New York state man is charged in Cameron County Court with sexually assaulting a child while he resided in Emporium between 2007 and 2008.

JOHNSONBURG – The man charged with murdering a Ridgway teen and dumping her body in a remote, swampy corner of an area park was in District Court Wednesday where a preliminary hearing saw charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and abuse of a corpse upheld against him.
The Elk County Conservation District has initiated a new stream project focused on creating public access points along the Bennett Branch.
ST. MARYS – With the reconstruction project currently taking place on state Route 255 to improve and repair the roadway for the future, it is interesting to note that in another section of roadway in St. Marys signs of the community's past are currently visible. Brusselles Street was once a brick-paved roadway, and a portion of those bricks is currently visible in front of Sheetz near the South Michael Street intersection.
WEEDVILLE – A Weedville barber shop is keeping business in the family by expanding and offering salon services. Caruso Barber Shop and Full Service Salon, located at 209 River Rd., is now a one-stop shop for men, women and children's hair care needs.
Louise Moore, 74, of 108 Madison Ave., Ridgway, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at her residence.
She was born February 6, 1939, in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Edmund and Bertha Gardner Shadd.
On March 9, 1955, she married Fred Moore, and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2012.
She had attended St. Marys Public High School. She had been employed at Stackpole Carbon. She enjoyed bingo, reading, and dancing.

ST. MARYS – Police descended on downtown St. Marys Monday after a mother and father reportedly kidnapped their own child from a Kersey home and led authorities on a car and foot chase through the city.
Officials at the Ridgway YMCA are preparing for the 32nd Annual Ridgway Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, April 27, starting at 11 a.m.
KANE – A white powdery substance found with two defendants in a Monday traffic stop on Route 321 near Kane High School is “suspected to be bath salts.â€
KERSEY – Assisting families with children suffering from cleft and craniofacial anomalies is the goal of the Adam's Smile Auxiliary of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, set to host their second annual fundraising event on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Red Fern.
