With the Hunters United for Sunday Hunting [HUSH] filing a lawsuit in the U.S. Middle District of Pennsylvania court earlier this month, it appears the debate over Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania remains a hot topic.

Thompson touts Student Success Act

KERSEY – Congressman Glenn "GT" Thompson (R-5) was in Elk County for a brief luncheon at the Red Fern on Monday afternoon with community representatives and elected officials. During that time he spoke briefly on some of the pressing matters he is involved with in Washington, D.C., among them H.R. 5, the Student Success Act, which would reform the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which is also commonly known as No Child Left Behind.

Ruth Marie Anstrom, 89, of Ridgway, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, after a prolonged illness. She passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Rustic Manor Personal Care Home in Indiana, Pa.
Ruth was born July 8, 1924 in Toby, daughter of the late Ester Christine (Hedlund) and John Alfred Freeburg.
Ruth graduated as valedictorian of her class at Kersey High School in 1942. She married Carl Richard Anstrom on June 5, 1948.
Ruth was employed as a secretary at the Elliot Company, Pontzer and Pontzer law firm and finished her career as secretary of First Lutheran Church, retiring at age 71.
