JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg Area School District Superintendent Dennis Crotzer reported on an audit that was recently completed during a board of directors meeting held Thursday night.
JAMES CITY – Brenda Emer was first diagnosed with breast cancer in July of 1997. Her son John was three years old, her daughter Allison, only two. While still getting a handle on her own illness, Brenda found out that John had Type I Diabetes.

The trial of a Ridgway man charged with growing marijuana has been continued to allow his defense more time to review the evidence against him.
JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg school board approved co-op agreements with Ridgway in multiple sports Thursday night during their regular school board at the Johnsonburg Area High School Information Center.
Many people are trained to offer assistance in a medical emergency, but may have no idea what to do when confronted with a mental health crisis. A certification program that will be offered to area residents called "Mental Health First Aid USA" can help people who deal with mental health issues as part of their profession or those who just want to know more about how to help someone experiencing this type of emergency.

Donald R. DeVallance, 88, of 1475 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 14, 1925 in Brockwayville, son of the late Norman Lane and Altha Venice (Dillon) DeVallance.
He married Rhea M. Smith on Feb. 17, 1947, and she survives.
He had resided in Ridgway since 1930 and was a former Brockway resident. He was a member of the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene and the NRA.
Congratulations to Ridgway Band members Marianne Aboussou and Ben Thompson.
They were selected to and participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region 2 Honor Band which was held at Meadville Area High School with Cochranton High School’s Band Director Carl Miller and Meadville’s Band Director Jill Manning co-hosting the festival. The students rehearsed with the Guest Director, Dr. Adam F. Brennan, during the day Thursday and Friday, March 7 and 8 and gave a performance for the public on Saturday, March 9, at 11:30 a.m.
The Ridgway Area School District continues to prepare for the upcoming budget for the 2013-2014 school year.
The Ridgway Area School District school board approved the proposed cooperative sports agreements with Johnsonburg discussed last week during their regular school board meeting Wednesday night at the Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
The vote passed 7-0 in favor of the proposed co-op agreements.
March 12th
WINGATE – A Kyle Sheldon 3-point play helped the Rams get by Smethport in the district semifinals.
The front end of a Sheldon 3-point play Tuesday night has the Rams set for a rematch.
Johnsonburg would take the lead on Sheldon's hoop and hang on for a 54-49 win over District 5 champion Shade Tuesday night in the second round of the PIAA Class A boys basketball playoffs held at Bald Eagle Area High School.
"We were lucky to come out of here with a win. Like I said, it could have went either way," Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said.
