None injured when truck flips on James City Hill

A truck driver escaped injury Tuesday when the tractor-trailer he was operating flipped on James City Hill on Route 66 in Wetmore Township south of Kane.

DuBois Marine killed in training exercise

NEVADA – A mortar shell explosion claimed the lives of seven Marines, including PFC Joshua M. Martino, a 19-year-old DuBois native as confirmed by WTAJ News. Eight other Marines were injured in the blast as well.

Jeffrey A. "Jeff" Sample

Jeffrey A. "Jeff" Sample, 61, of 148 School St., Kane, died on Monday, March 18, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1951 in Ridgway, son of the late John S. "Jack" and Carmella M. Allegretto Sample.
On May 14, 1982 he married Janis M. Redmond, who preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2011.
Mr. Sample was a resident of Kane for the past six years. He had formerly lived in Clearfield for five years and had lived in Rasselas. He was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1970.

A hearing held for a Johnsonburg man headed to trial on drug charges filed after police allegedly uncovered marijuana being grown at his home erupted in confrontation between law enforcement and members of the defendant's family as well as the defendant and his defense attorney in Elk County Court Monday.

Council reviews parking permit program

The Ridgway Borough Council reviewed a recommendation by the Street Lighting, Parking and Traffic Committee during Monday night's meeting to not enter into a parking permit program.

Amy C. Ford

Amy C. Ford, age 88, of Johnsonburg, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Mt. Laurel Nursing Home in Clearfield after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 23, 1924 in Arroyo, daughter of the late Clarence and Ella Laura (Sarvey) Shaffer.
She was married to Jordan Ford; he preceded her in death in July 1995.
A Protestant by faith, she lived most of her life in Johnsonburg and worked at St. Marys Hospital Pharmacy for many years.

Rams advance to PIAA semifinal

CLARION – Beating Smethport two out of three times this season wasn't bad.
