Ridgway native and Elk County Catholic High School graduate Logan Williams will return to Biblical times as one of the stars in an upcoming production of "Children of Eden" at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh this March.
A cautionary tale circulating through the cybersphere warns readers not to pull over for unmarked cars with flashing red lights because it is the work of criminals masquerading as police in targeting lone motorists as victims. According to myth-busting site www.snopes.com, that tale may be a mix of both fact and fiction.
Gilbert F. “Gib” Yeager, 86, of 155 Russ Lane, St. Marys, died peacefully at his home with his family by side Wednesday morning, Feb. 20, 2013 after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 13, 1927 in St. Marys, son of the late George and Marcella Schatz Yeager. On Sept. 20, 1952 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Frances “Pam” A. Pontzer, who survives.
Mr. Yeager was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Public High School. He was one of the original co-owners of Kersey Tool and Die, retiring in 1994.
Armine H. Piccirillo, 93, formerly of 4257 Grant Rd., Ridgway, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 19, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born May 14, 1919 in Shawmut, daughter of the late Eva Jenkins. She was married to Joseph N. Piccirillo who preceded her in death. She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and the C.D. of A. She had been employed by Sylvania for 30 years.

The only question left by the time the fourth quarter rolled around Tuesday night was not who was going to win but whether Ridgway would hit 100 points.
The Elkers came close.
Ridgway scored over 20 points three of the four quarter en route to a 96-45 win over Oswayo Valley Friday night in the first round of the District 9 Class A boys basketball playoffs.
All 13 players scored at least two points for the Elkers with Jesse Reynolds leading the way with 21 points. Robbie Byrd tallied 17 points and Sam Roselli finished with 16 points. Tony Leithner had 11 points for the Elkers.
JOHNSONBURG – Let the fun begin.
The Johnsonburg Rams (23-2) opened the District 9 Class A playoffs Tuesday night with a 63-21 victory over the Union Knights of Rimersburg.
The Rams took advantage of another fast start Tuesday and jumped out to an early 25-5 lead after the first quarter of play.

William Gerg, a deputy for the Elk County Sheriff's Department, was recognized Tuesday morning during a board of commissioners meeting for exceptional services to the county.
The Ridgway Township Board of Supervisors held their final meeting at 164 Ridgway Dr. Tuesday afternoon.
