ST. MARYS â€“ Johnsonburg boys basketball claimed the 2013 Elk County Holiday Tournament with a 64-43 win over Elk County Catholic Friday night. The Rams are now scheduled to play Bridgeport for the EQT Energy Classic championship at 8 p.m. tonight at St. Marys Area High School.

Marie I. Swanson, 92, formerly of 136 Scotland St., Dagus Mines, died Friday morning, Dec. 27, 2013 at the Ridgmont Assisted Living Facility.
She was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Coal Glen, Pa., daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel (McLaughlin) Luke.
She married Verner F. Swanson on May 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2002.
She had resided in Dagus Mines for many years. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the Covenant Women.
Daniel E. "Squeaky" Miller Sr., 64, a resident of Highland View Health Care in Brockway, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born May 18, 1949 in Ridgway, a son of the late Lawrence and Sophie Flacinski Miller.
Mr. Miller lived most of his life in Elk County, with the Miller homestead being located in Wilcox. He worked for several years at Motion Control in Ridgway and at St. Marys Pressed Metals. He enjoyed hunting, working, remodeling houses and working on cars.Â He also had a great love for dogs and eagles.
Maxine K. Johnson, 94, of 1310 Mohan Run Rd., Ridgway, died Thursday evening, Dec. 26, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born July 2, 1919, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Martin and Charlotte (McDowell) Glantz. She married Clark S. Johnson on April 11, 1939, in Bolivia, N.Y. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2007.
Maxine was a graduate of the Ridgway High School. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past Worthy Matron, and a member of the White Shrine where she was a past Worthy Priestess.
John J. Boschert, 54, of 424 German Settlement Rd., Ridgway, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013.
He was born April 11, 1959 in St. Marys, a son of Anna Carlson Boschert of St. Marys and the late John J. Boschert, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2013.
On Sept. 24, 2004 in Ridgway, he married Jane Woelfel Boschert, who survives.
On Dec. 26, the Ridgway YMCA officially received a letter stating that Governor Tom Corbett has authorized the release of $800,000 in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funding to the Ridgway YMCA Revitalization Project in Elk County.
"This has been a long time coming," said Ridgway YMCA Executive Director Mary Lynne Bellotti. "I donâ€™t think that it has actually sunk in yet. I am so excited for our YMCA and our community."
Gerald L. Boroi, 78, of 609 Shelvey Summit Rd., Kersey, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born Oct. 22, 1935 in Elbon, a son of the late Samuel and Sara Lindenmuth Boroi.
On May 24, 1958, in Toby Methodist Church, he married Carol Fredrickson Boroi, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2005.Â On Oct. 16, 2007 in Toby United Methodist Church, he then married Doris Gearhart Wolff Boroi, who survives.
Mr. Boroi was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Toby United Methodist Church.Â
