JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Borough Council heard from several area residents during Monday afternoon's meeting. Meeting attendees voiced their concerns over noise made by tractor trailers using engine brakes, commonly referred to as jake brakes, through town.

Lady Crusaders advance to PIAA Playoffs

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team advanced to the PIAA Class A Tournament by taking second place in Saturday's District 9-A Final Four held at the St. Marys Area High School.
Elk Catholic reached the finals of Saturday's tournament by defeating Oswayo Valley in the semifinals 3-0 (25-18, 25-1 and 25-13). In the finals Elk met top seeded Clarion. The Lady Bobcats defeated ECC in three 25-22, 25-16 and 25-20.

Elkers clinch playoff spot

Ridgway football has had the motto of "One Team" since the start of this season with the new co-op between Ridgway and Johnsonburg.
Now that one team has clinched one of eight Class A playoff berths.
The Elkers defeated St. Joseph's Catholic Academy 13-0 Friday night at Memorial Field in Ridgway to seal Ridgway's first playoff berth since the 2006 season.

Bail change is made for driver in 6-fatality crash

KANE – A change was made Friday in the bail for Kathleen S. Douglas-- a Kane woman facing manslaughter charges in a horrific Aug. 31 traffic accident that killed six.
Kane District Court Judge Dave Engman said Friday that the bail for Douglas will remain at $750,000. However, the "bail type" is now listed as "unsecured" rather than "monetary."
