JOHNSONBURG â€“ Members of the Johnsonburg volleyball program, and parents and relatives gathered recently to celebrate the 2013 season and pay tribute to the program's two departing seniors, Chelsea Benson and Emily Dubler.
Ridgway junior high football held a banquet for the team last Monday night at Aiello Cafe in Ridgway.
Junior high football head coach Brian Hinton welcome everyone and acknowledged everyone in attendance for a great season.
"I want to [acknowledge] you for a successful season," Hinton said. "Just a phenomenal start and a phenomenal finish to the season. It was an honor to coach these 46 fine young gentlemen. Weâ€™re sad to see the season come to the end."
Judy A. Leahy, 62, of 432 East Main St., Ridgway, died Saturday morning, Nov. 16, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 9, 1951 in Washington, Pa., the daughter of the late Kenneth and Juanita Sweet Watson.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ During their recent meeting, the Johnsonburg Area School Board resolved that they will not raise taxes above the Pennsylvania Department of Education's index rate for the 2014-2015 school year. Currently, the adjusted rate for Johnsonburg stands at 3 percent.
This does not guarantee a tax hike, but does provide a guarantee that, if necessary, the increase will not exceed 3 percent.
