William G. “Bill” Fusco

William G. “Bill” Fusco, 88, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born May 13, 1925, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Joe and Edith (Paladino) Fusco.
On April 17, 1947, he married Phyllis J. (Hewitt) Fusco, who survives.
He was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.
He was employed as a salesman for the Phillip Morris Company for more than 30 years.
After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served in the Pacific during World War II, serving with the 1st Division.

Michael Lawrence Lynn (Big Papa) Markert

Michael Lawrence Lynn (Big Papa) Markert, 55, of 411 Zuccolotto Ln., Brockway, died Saturday evening, Oct. 5, 2013 in his residence surrounded by his family and friends.
Born May 11, 1958 in Lorain, Ohio, he was the son of the late Frank William and Carol Aileen (Grose) Markert of Emporium.
He graduated from Cameron County High School in 1976.
On Nov. 18, 1978, he married the love of his life and best friend Teresa J. (TJ) Wittman, who survives.
He retired from Bassetti Landscaping of Brockway and previously had worked for Walmart Distribution of Woodland.

Horton Twp. Supervisors discuss new project

HORTON TWP. – The Horton Township supervisors discussed future plans to erect a steel-sided building near the current Horton Township Municipal Building.
The township recently received a quote for a 40 foot by 70 foot building including all hardware for around $28,000.
