Ridgway boys basketball used an early second-half run to take control of Friday night's AML South game against Brockway en route to a 65-42 victory over the Rovers at Ridgway Area High School.
Brockway was able to stick with the Elkers for much of the 1st half and was within four at 28-24 after a free throw from Dausen Crawford. Ridgway ran a set play after a timeout on the last possession of the first half and it paid off as senior Sam Roselli was able to score inside with six seconds left to give the Elkers a 30-24 lead at halftime.
JOHNSONBURG – Talk about scoring points in bunches.
On a night where everything seemed to be going in, the Johnsonburg Rams (8-1) stretched their winning streak to four games with an 80-54 win Friday over the visiting Kane Wolves (3-6).
Kane's Kevin Cleer led all scorers with 20 points, thanks largely to a nine-point fourth quarter, but the night belonged to a quartet of Rams who crossed over into double figures.

Public outcry from pet owners whose dogs have become ill or died after consuming chicken jerky treats imported from China is on the rise. Numerous online petitions, advocacy groups, chat forums and Facebook groups have cropped up within the past year, with their efforts aimed primarily at having the treats removed from stores.
The Ridgway Township Municipal Authority accepted the fiscal year audit during Thursday night's regular meeting.
A Brockport man jailed on drug and weapons charges was granted a bail modification in Elk County Court Thursday, effectively freeing him from the county jail and turning him over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals, who had lodged a federal detainer against him.
William W. Thompson, M.D., age 89, of 314 South St., Ridgway, died Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2013, at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Nov. 28, 1923, in Knox, son of the late David R. and Veronica A. (Dougherty) Thompson, both educators in the Elk County School System.
He married Alice Marie DeVoge on July 26, 1952. She survives.
