ST. MARYS – According to scanner dialogue between police and Elk County Control, the attempted abduction of a female took place between approximately 7:55 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at St. Marys Area High School.
According to police, the female described her would-be abductors as two males wearing black ski masks and driving an older dark blue, navy or black passenger car with a back bumper that is falling off.
The Elk County Council on the Arts (ECCOTA) is encouraging residents to show their hearts are in the arts by attending the organization's gala taking place Saturday, Feb. 9 at Aiello's Cafe in Ridgway.

Louis A. Allegretto, 85, of 4438 Rasselas Rd., Wilcox, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 16 at the Kane Community Hospital in Kane following a brief illness.
He was born on April 29, 1927 in Elmira, N.Y., son of the late Louis D. and Clara Markert Allegretto.
He married Patty Eaton on June 28, 1947; she preceded him in death in 1979. He later married Vona Lee Walters in 1981; she survives.
Betty Louise Casolo, 87, of 101 N. Mill Ave., Ridgway, died at her residence on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 17, 1925 in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Anthony and Flora Minard Gerg. On Nov. 26, 1947, she married John F. Casolo Sr., who preceded her in death on May 4, 2006.
Representatives of Seneca Resources Corporation discussed their proposal to convert a natural gas production well in Highland Twp. into an injection well at Monday's meeting of the Elk County Gas Task Force.
JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Municipal Authority held a reorganizational meeting prior to their regular meeting Tuesday night to elect officers.
During the regular scheduled Ridgway Area School District board meeting held Jan. 15, 2013 the Finance Manager Brent Rhoads presented a preliminary budget that projects some savings. The preliminary budget will be presented in February.
Dorothy Gigliotti-Hetrick, 69, of East Long Avenue, DuBois, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home following a short illness.
She was born on June 7, 1943 in Sligo, daughter of Luella (Smith) Wolff of DuBois and the late James Wolff.
Darla Jean Edwards, 63, of 10 First Mill St., Sheffield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was born July 30, 1949 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Edward L. and Virginia Abplanalp Fulton.
She was employed by Petrex of Warren for the past 21 years. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed the time spent with her family and playing the slots at the casino.
