JOHNSONBURG – The Grey Knights Drum & Bugle Corps of Johnsonburg is on the lookout for fresh faces to join the team.
The Corps offers an opportunity to members of all ages to perform in a number of parades and special events.

BROOKVILLE — Testimony about a jailhouse confession by Steven P. Rebert emerged during his Aug. 11, 2010, preliminary hearing in the shooting deaths of Victoria and Wayne Shugar, and Thursday, the man who allegedly heard the confession testified for the prosecution Thursday.
Joel Eagleson, formerly of Phoenix, Ariz., now residing in Batavia, N.Y., told the jury about a 15- to 20-minute conversation he and Rebert had in early June 2010, after Rebert had been arrested by authorities in Genessee County, N.Y., for possession of a weapon.
Tax documents for 2011 will soon start arriving in the mail, and it is never too soon to start getting organized to ensure a maximum refund with minimal difficulties.Â
Jennifer Jenkins, Internal Revenue Service media relations for Ohio and Western Pa., had some basic tips to offer taxpayers.Â
“The first thing most people wonder is what's the deadline to file, and this year the deadline is Tuesday, April 17,” Jenkins said.Â
Shirley M. Wolff, 81, of 3727 Old State Rd., Daguscahonda, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center.Â
She was born July 27, 1930 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Charles Gerber and Loreena Knowlton Demoizes.
On Jan. 20, 1948, she married the late Miles R. Wolff, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1985.
Victor P. Morelli, age 80, of 315 Ash St., Ridgway, died Thursday morning. Jan. 19, 2012, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 17, 1931 in Kersey, son of the late Lino and Mary (Tamburlin) Morelli. He married Angela M. Ambrosia on June 20, 1953, she survives.

Ridgway boys basketball made the opposition miserable in the minutes before halftime for the second consecutive night.
The Elkers closed out the half with an 8-0 run and propelled Ridgway to a 55-40 victory over Brookville Wednesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Ridgway had a similar run against DuBois Central Catholic Tuesday night in a 42-31 win over the Cardinals. Brookville won 56-39 on Jan. 19, 2011 over Ridgway on the Raiders' home floor.
Since August of 2011 ownership of Lumberjacks has switched from Larry Buehler to John and Martha Toncich. Toncich had previously been hired to consult for Lumberjacks to help turn it around and eventually he came upon the purchase. Toncich explains he wanted to maintain the business to help keep a part of Ridgway’s heritage alive.
“Larry redid the restaurant in late 2006 as a dedication to the town,” Toncich said. “The lumber industry is what built this county, and the history shouldn’t be walked away from.”
BROOKVILLE — Jurors during the third day of the Steven P. Rebert's double-homicide trial learned how he left a video trail of surveillance of him stopping at Sheetz as he made his way to the home of Wayne and Vickie Shugar, Coal Tipple Road, Brockway.
Rebert, formerly of Emporium, faces double homicide charges in the shooting deaths of the Shugars, both 61, who were found dead April 12, 2010, in their home.

Ridgway boys basketball continued its undefeated run with a 42-31 victory over DuBois Central Catholic Tuesday night in an AML South matchup at Ridgway Area High School.
JOHNSONBURG – The Rams (9-2) rebounded Tuesday with a 54-31 win over struggling Brockway (4-8) to right the ship at the midway point of the regular season.
Backed by a 17-point outburst from sophomore guard Cole Peterson, the Rams overcome a brief sluggish start to outlast the Rovers while relying on a stifling defense in the second half to put the game away.
