The Elk County Board of Commissioners approved three agreements Tuesday morning regarding the Northern Tier Regional NG911 Telecommunications Project for the county's new 911 Center.
The project, which includes Cameron, Clarion, Forest, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, Crawford and Warren counties, effectively creates a regional 911 system.
The project went out for bid and after the bids were reviewed at a public meeting earlier this year, the commissioners awarded the winning bid to Verizon. The total cost and 5-year maintenance agreement brings the total bill to roughly $2.169 million.
County officials and poll workers are quickly preparing for the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and possible struggles with the state's new voter identification requirements.
