Polaski returns for Johnsonburg cross country

August 30, 2012

Kathryn Polaski will return to the Johnsonburg cross country team this season as its lone member at season’s start.
Johnsonburg coach Eric Lowry is happy to be able to see Polaski run with Johnsonburg cross country.
“Just to be able to see her finish her career out will be good enough,” Lowry said. “She’s doing fine, I’m just hoping to give her a chance to qualify and go to states these next two years, that’s really the big thing.”
Lowry said Polaski has a chance to be a state qualifier this season if she can have a strong season.

Ridgway football full of new faces for new season

After a 6-4 season in 2011, Ridgway football comes into the new season hopeful after losing 15 seniors to graduation last year.
To offset the loss of 15 seniors, Ridgway has 16 sophomores coming up to the team this year.
“It’s a great group of kids and we lost a lot last year with our 15 seniors that we graduated,” Ridgway coach Mark Heindl said. “We definitely have a great group of sophomores coming up through the system. The future looks bright for the football program.”

Johnsonburg football team hoping for turnaround in 2012

JOHNSONBURG – After a winless 2011 season, second-year head coach Jesse Schreiber and the Johnsonburg Rams are looking to turn the page in what they hope will be a successful year on the football field.
The Rams came close last season; they nearly defeated Cameron County on the road but succumbed in overtime. At the end of the season, they found themselves in a tight game against Keystone but a second half letdown expunged the team to a winless season. Some forfeit losses also plagued the team.
But a year later and a year wiser, Schreiber said he looks to build on lessons learned.
