A large crowd turned out Saturday, July 21 for the annual Ridgway Firemen's Carnival parade.
Overcast skies provided comfortable temperatures Saturday during the parade that lasted nearly two hours. A new addition to this year's event was performances by the varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders from Marion Center High School.
Fire trucks came from Johnsonburg, Wilcox, Fox Township, Horton Township, Kane, Highland Township, Mt. Jewett, and others to add extra spice to the event.

ST. MARYS â€“ Wilcox starting pitcher Quinn Luhr picked a good time to turn in one of his best pitching performances.
Luhr threw 7 1-3 innings and gave up three runs as Wilcox won its second game of the Region 8 tournament 8-3 over Albion Sunday afternoon at Berwind Park in St. Marys.
ST. MARYS â€“ It was a grand way for Josh Mitchell and the Wilcox American Legion baseball team to open the Region 8 tournament.
Mitchell hit a third-inning grand slam and drove in six total runs as Wilcox won 11-3 over French Creek Valley in the tournament opener Saturday morning at Berwind Park in St. Marys.
Law enforcement and firefighting officials continue to investigate a string of arsons that have plagued Elk County since May 30.
The arson reports started with two fires in Ridgway before spreading to Johnsonburg. Recent fires in St. Marys have heightened concern over the summer blazes.
RIDGWAY - A Ridgway man charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old female when he babysat her was convicted on all charges by a 12-member jury at the Elk County Courthouse on Friday.
Corey Allen Heatherdale, 26, of Ridgway, admitted to police that he received oral sex from the victim and performed manual copulation on her.
Jane (Zawacki) Muroski, 87, formerly of Ridgway and Johnsonburg, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, in Winter Park, Fla.
Born in Ridgway, she was a resident of Johnsonburg most of her life. She is the widow of William Joseph Muroski, who died in 1979. Â
She moved to St. Cloud, Fla. in 1981. Jane proudly served in the Womenâ€™s Army Air Corps in World War II.
ST. MARYS â€“ Combining the outdoors and storytime together, Dickinson Center Inc.'s (DCI) Children's Prevention Services is hosting their inaugural "Storytime in the Park," taking place Friday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
DCI Parents as Teachers (PAT) Educator Lynn Floravit has taken the activity a step further by turning it into the "I Spy a Spider" walking storytime event being held at Benzinger Park in St. Marys.

Lisa C. Serafini, age 39, passed away July 18, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.Â
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Benny and Mary Serafini; maternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Karpinski; and an uncle, Larry Serafini.Â
She is survived by her parents, Benny and Barbara Serafini; a son, Kyle L. Serafini; a brother, Brian Serafini; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.Â

Nancy L. Farr, 74, of 160 East Ave., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Kane following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 14, 1938 in Ludlow, daughter of the late Anthony (Tony) and Fannie Visco Raymondo. She married George J. Farr on March 2, 1957; he survives.
She resided in the community for 55 years. She graduated from Kane High School in 1956. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and loved homemaking and family life.
