JOHNSONBURG â€“ Now in its third year, the Blast in the Burg III drum and bugle corps competition is sure to be another hit with area spectators. This year's show is slated for Tuesday, July 31 at 6 p.m. at Memorial Field in Johnsonburg.
"Due to overwhelming support, there will indeed be a Blast in the Burg III," said organizer Terry Feronti of Johnsonburg.
Dr. David Quinn Steele, age 85, of Glen Hazel Road in Wilcox, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at U.P.M.C.-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born Oct. 20, 1926 in Pittsburgh to Dr. Paul B. and Anne McNeill Steele.
On May 2, 1958, he married Lorraine "Lorry" Harrison, she survives.
He attended the Awakening Alliance Church in Ridgway. Dr. Steele was an avid sportsman and enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hunting, canoeing, skiing and hiking and traveling. He also loved hockey and football. He was an avid reader and a strong Christian man who was very generous and humble.
Surviving final-inning rallies is becoming a habit for the Ridgway minor league baseball all-stars.
One more victory will equal a District 10 North Division championship.
Ridgway survived a furious 6-run rally from Bradford in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 9-7 victory Friday night at the Ridgway Little League fields along Grant Road.
Ridgway will play the winner of the Warren Americans/Bradford game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. with the site to be determined.
