Elk County residents charged in multi-county drug bust

ST. MARYS - A year-long investigation led by Troop C of the Pennsylvania State Police in conjunction with the United States Postal Service involving the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics in Elk, Jefferson, and Clearfield counties resulted in the June 20 arrests of seven Elk County residents and one individual with local ties.

Conservation District agrees to noxious weed plan

The Elk County Conservation District will enter into an agreement with the Sinnemahoning Cooperative Weed Management Area to focus an invasive and noxious weed management project primarily within the Sinnemahoning Watershed.
According to District Manager Steve Putt, the Bucktail Watershed Association obtained a grant through the federal government for the weed management project.
Putt noted that he has been working with the Bureau of Forestry, Pa. Game Commission and Sinnemahoning State Park for the past year.

Johnsonburg advances in Little League tournament

June 25, 2012

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg minor league baseball all-stars advanced in the District 10 Little League Tournament with a 43-4, 4-inning victory over Reyn-Sykes Monday night at Knothole Recreational Park.
Johnsonburg was able score runs at a fast clip, with 10 runs in the first, 16 in the second, 10 in the third and seven in the fourth.

Mary Grace Kriegish

Mary Grace Kriegish, 82, of 409 Willow St., Johnsonburg, died on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 2, 1929 in Weedville, daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Alice DeLullo.
She married Richard E. Kriegish on Jan. 3, 1948 in St. Joseph Church in Force. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1991.
Mrs. Kriegish resided in Johnsonburg since 1947. She graduated from Jay Township High School and from the Ora Jean Beauty School of Erie.

Richard H. Wagner

Richard H. Wagner, 57, of Ridgway died Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Ridgway.
He was born May 18, 1955 in Kittanning, a son of the late Frank J. and Iona (Bowser) Wagner. He was a 1973 graduate of Freeport High School. In 1977, he moved to Ridgway where he enjoyed living near the woods of Elk County. He was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Eldora Rod and Gun Club.
