Wagner ousts Hornung for GOP chair

There weren't many surprises in Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary election results in Elk County. As of press time, with all 33 precincts reporting, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney captured the Pa. Republican presidential nomination and will face President Barack Obama in the fall. Romney easily outdistanced former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Texas Congressman Ron Paul and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum to take the nomination.

Department adds truck to fleet

BROCKPORT – A recently-purchased hybrid fire truck by the Horton Township Volunteer Fire Department will become their new go-to vehicle.
Horton Township Rescue 712 is a 2012 Ford 4x4 F550 chassis with a Rosenbauer body purchased by the department for $179,300.
Many fire departments in smaller communities are using combination trucks that can service a variety of calls as they are finding themselves short on manpower.

Book chronicles final years of JFK, Jr.

MARYS – On Friday evening, New York Times best-selling author RoseMarie Terenzio will make an appearance at the St. Marys Public Library, where she plans to discuss her book "Fairy Tale Interrupted: A Memoir of Life, Love and Loss." The event offers a night of recollections of John F. Kennedy Jr. from Terenzio, his former personal assistant and confidante.
The 247-page book is described as a "deeply loving story and a fascinating adventure, filled with warmth, humor, insight and five years' worth of unforgettable mistakes."
