JOHNSONBURG â A new face is at the helm of the Johnsonburg softball program as first-year head coach Jenny Lewis hopes to build on last season's playoff appearance.
"I started teaching in Johnsonburg last year and I had helped some of the pitchers last year," Lewis said. "When the opening came up I thought I might as well use what I have and try to coach."
A Brookville Area High School graduate, Lewis attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and competed in softball at both the high school and collegiate levels. Her experience, she said, can be a double-edged sword.
JOHNSONBURG â After a winless 2011 campaign, the Johnsonburg boys tennis team is already ahead of the curve for the 2012 season and are looking for bigger things to come as the spring progresses.
"We're looking to improve on last season after not winning a match and early on this year, we have won, and we have improved," said Johnsonburg head boys varsity tennis coach Gregg Dauber. "I hope to see some of our returning players stepping up and playing the way they should play to lead the way and lead the team because that's their job."
JOHNSONBURG â Johnsonburg track and field is ready to have a strong season after only a couple of events.
Johnsonburg coach Rene Timm said there is a good mix of new and returning athletes on the team entering this season.
âIâm excited about the numbers, we have a lot of faces back, a lot of new faces,â Timm said. âSo far, itâs looking good. Mother Nature really gave us some good days to practice. Iâm just looking forward to everyone stepping up and doing the same as we did last year and better.â
