JOHNSONBURG â€“ Following a lengthy executive session the Johnsonburg Municipal Authority [JMA] voted to increase water rates during their regular meeting Tuesday night.
Effective Jan. 1, residents can expect a $10 per month increase in their water bills.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ With a 2-7 season in the rear view mirror and the Johnsonburg varsity football program in serious jeopardy due to lack of player turnout and graduation, the current coaching staff paused Sunday for a season-ending banquet and paid tribute to the team's playmakers.
"Our seniors worked extremely hard in the summer and they were the heart and soul of this program," said Johnsonburg varsity football coach Jesse Schreiber. "They really wanted it and I was glad to be able to coach them."
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Johnsonburg football program celebrated the 2012 football season Sunday afternoon with a banquet and awards ceremony at the high school.
Johnsonburg varsity football coach Jesse Schreiber, who earlier this year earned his first varsity victory and followed it with a 13-12 win over rival Ridgway later in the season, paid tribute to his coaching staff, players, and several individuals working behind the scenes.
Members of the Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department responded Tuesday afternoon to what initially started out as an odor investigation at the Elk County Courthouse Annex in the 300 block of Center Street.
According to Ridgway fire chief John Wygant, an initial investigation yielded no results and he terminated the investigation. Elk Company 4 was reportedly called out at 2:58 p.m., according to 911 dispatch.
"Five minutes after I left, I was called back as the smell got more intense," Wygant said. "It was then that I called for the general alarm."
