Constable Ziegler could be answer to budget crisis

A new dimension has been added to the ongoing battle between the county's board of commissioners and the sheriff's department.
With the sheriff's department reportedly over budget by $9,000 by the year's end, the board of commissioners reportedly will not cover the overage and Elk County Sheriff Jeffrey C. Krieg filed a civil complaint on behalf of his department against the board.

Borough waits to abate property

JOHNSONBURG – After declaring a residence at the west end of Johnsonburg a public nuisance, the Johnsonburg Borough Council took further action during Monday's meeting to abate the property.
On Aug. 22, a fire at 208 Church St. destroyed a single-stall garage, four residential structures and a vehicle. The residence, owned by Albert Lee Abplanalp, sustained the most damage, as the fire originated in a detached single-stall garage at the property and spread to the main residence situated several feet away.
