Alfreta Louise Markelonis, age 97, a Keystone Road, Brockport resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at Highland View Health Care Center in Brockway.
She was born Nov. 26, 1914 in Walburn Run, daughter of the late Sherman and Cora Dunlap Starr.
She was married to John Albert Spare, he died on Nov. 20, 1964. She then married Dan Markelonis and he died on Sept. 19, 1978.
After her retirement, Alfreta along with her sister and her nieces did lots of traveling. She also enjoyed playing cards and watching baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Sara J. Parana, 76, of 400 Rock St., Ridgway, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born September 19, 1936, in St. Marys, the daughter of Jacob and Marquerite Smith Ames.
On August 28, 1959, she married Joseph V. Parana, he survives.
Mrs. Parana was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She had been a Ridgway resident for 35 years. She had been employed at Ridgway Area High School, retiring in 1991.
Ridgway volleyball hosted St. Marys Tuesday night in a varsity volleyball match.
