September 9, 2011

Ridgway’s Maria Buhler came up with aces at the most important time for the Lady Elkers Thursday night.
With the Ramettes on the brink of forcing a fifth set, Buhler hit three service points to close a 3-1 (25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 26-24) victory for Ridgway over Johnsonburg at Ridgway Area High School.
“I really commend Maria Buhler coming in there and having those nice, hard serves,” Ridgway coach Janet Redmond said. “She was getting the job done for us.”

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Area School District received a $10,000 grant from Highmark to be used to purchase health foods and exercise equipment for its high school students.
"The money will be used for nutrition and physical activity," said superintendent Dennis Crotzer, during Thursday night's regular school board meeting. "Fresh fruits and vegetables will be purchased for our students and aerobic equipment will be purchased for student use."
The elementary school received a similar grant from Highmark several years ago for $10,000.
