Crusaders down Gators on the road

PORT ALLEGANY – With under one minute remaining in regulation and the seconds quickly ticking away in the fourth quarter of Saturday afternoon’s football game, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders faced fourth-and-goal at Port Allegany’s one-yard-line with the score tied at 19-all. Two possessions earlier the team had been in a similar scenario, driving all the way to the Gator’s three-yard-line before being shut down by Port’s defense and turning the ball over on downs.

Rams soccer edges Clearfield

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg soccer won 3-2 over Clearfield Saturday afternoon at Johnsonburg Area High School.
It was the Rams' first win of the season and a one-goal win for Johnsonburg after losing four straight one-goal decisions.

New teacher shares her passion and heritage with students

B. Patricia Stitt is the new Spanish and General Biology teacher at the Ridgway Area Middle/High School.
Stitt originated from Bogota, Colombia where she was a practicing veterinarian for 12 years, and an adjunct biology professor at the University in Bogota. It wasn’t until 2004 that Stitt arrived in the United States and attended Clarion University for teaching.
Upon graduation, Stitt began teaching in the Otto-Eldred School District in Duke Center.
