Wilcox splits games as Region 8 Tournament opens up

MEADVILLE – The Wilcox American Legion baseball team will continue play in the Region 8 Tournament after a 10-2 victory over Meridian Sunday afternoon on a hot day at the Meadville Area Recreational Complex.
Wilcox will play Meadville in the loser's bracket at 10 a.m. this morning.

Schlimm's debut novel delves into country music scene

Local author John Schlimm of St. Marys has delved into the e-book business with his debut of "Twang: a novel". This new endeavor is Schlimm's first novel, a contrast from his previously published cookbooks, and provides an insider's look behind the scenes of the country music industry.
In writing the novel, Schlimm drew from his experience as a former celebrity publicist in Nashville, where he worked with some of country music's biggest superstars.

Regina A. Korep, 89, of Cushing Avenue in Johnsonburg and recently of Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 12, 1922 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Hipolit and Rosie (Brzostik) Korep.
She lived all her life in the same house on Cushing Avenue in Johnsonburg and was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School. She worked at Stackpole Carbon. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society and the local polka club. She enjoyed dancing and traveling.
