WILCOX â€“ The Wilcox American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader against Kane Monday at Jones Township Community Park.
Wilcox won 10-0 in five innings in the first game and then dominated in a 20-2, 5-inning matchup in the nightcap.
"We're just picking up where we left off," Wilcox coach Jeff Peterson said. "We didn't hit real well against Bradford. They're young, they're plugging. I give them credit, they don't quit. They show a lot of character in hanging there."
The Ridgway Borough Council voted in favor of adopting a resolution in support of H.R. 1489, "The Return to Prudent Banking Act," during last night's regular council meeting.
Ridgway resident Bill Branche proposed the resolution to council members at last month's meeting.
Council member Frank Quattrone read Resolution No. 3 - 2011 in support of H.R. 1489.
"The Return to Prudent Banking Act is an effective money and banking system essential to the functioning of the economy and such a system must function in the public interest without bias," Quattrone said.
Jeannine G. Prindle, 81, of 212 Alpine Street, Ridgway, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her residence.
She was born June 29, 1929, in Woodland, the daughter of the late Clifton and Elsie Wilson Mitchell.
In 1962, she married Joseph E. Prindle, who predeceased her on June 10, 2011.
She had been a lifelong Ridgway resident and had been employed as a telephone operator for Alltel, retiring in 1984.
She is survived by a brother, James Mitchell of Zionsville, Ind. (formerly of Clearfield); and by two nieces, Debra Kline and Diane Bakaysa.
Clarence R. â€śCalâ€ť Dush, 87, of 5225 Grant Road, Ridgway, died Sunday, June 19, 2011. He was born October 4, 1923, in Ridgway, the son of the late George R. and Ida E. Dallenbach Dush. On June 15, 1946, he married his wife of 65 years, June N. Fassette, who survives.
Mildred L. (Millie) Koval, age 84, of 2886 Rt. 219, Brockway, died June 20, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 28, 1927, daughter of David and Katherine Gustafson Moberg. She married Richard "Dick" Koval, she predeceased her July 15, 2010.
She was a retired packer at Brockway Glass Co. and was a member of St. Tobias Church in Brockway. She collected cow knickknacks and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
