ST. MARYS – In the completion of a suspended game, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders defeated the Ridgway Elkers by a 14-3 score in five innings.
The game was started on Wednesday and suspended in the home half of the third inning when Mother Nature took over. It was completed Friday night following the ECC vs. SMA contest.
In the home half of the third inning on Friday, Elk Catholic scored two runs. Luke Daghir walked then stole second. Ben Daghir singled. Wtih two outs, Kyle Schneider singled scoring both Luke and Ben making the score 12-1.
ST. MARYS – It felt more like football weather than baseball Friday afternoon at Berwind Park, where the Elk County Catholic Crusaders handed the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen an 8-1 setback.
The Crusaders were the first to get on the scoreboard as they were able to score twice in the second inning and twice in the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead. They were able to add four runs in the fifth inning.
“Ben (Daghir) set the tone for the game with his good outing. We were able to get two runs in the second to go on top,” said ECCHS coach Father Eric Vogt.
Peggy Frick Dithrich, 64, of Ridgway, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Sandi) Borod and Kevin Borod; a daughter, Kimberly (Chris) Dye; five grandchildren, Hayli and Madison Borod and Logan, Alex and Devin Dye; and beloved stepchildren and their families. She donated her body to science.
A memorial service for Peggy Frick Dithrich will be held Saturday, May 14 at 3 p.m. at the Falls Creek Firehouse, 41st St., Falls Creek, PA 15840.
