James Ruel Cristini, 67, of North Broad Street, Ridgway, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 20, 1943 in Brockport, son of James Cristini of Brockport and the late Virginia (Zimmerman) Cristini.
He married Linda (Hooven) Cristini, who survives.
Cristini served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a tool and die maker for local manufacturing for 43 years, retiring from Clarion Sintered in 2008.
He was a member of the Ridgway American Legion and VFW. Born and raised in Brockport, he had been a Ridgway resident since 1964.
Dorothy R. Wingard, age 58, a resident at Highlandview Health Care Center in Brockway, died Jan. 15, 2011, at Highlandview.
She was born Jan. 11, 1953, in DuBois, daughter of Vern and Amaryllis Seyler Bloom.
She was married to Richard Wingard, he preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1990.
She was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church at Chestnut Grove.
Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and animals, and she was a homemaker.
Mary M. Chirillo, age 88, of 422 Oak St., Ridgway, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Janice E. Shope, 71, of 1020 LeMans Rd., St. Marys, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 12, 2011 at her residence.
She was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Daguschonda, daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth Yonker Gorton.
On Sept. 6, 1958, in St. Benedict's Church in Daguschonda, she married David A. Shope, who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1957. She was employed at the St. Marys Job Center for over 18 years, retiring in 2000.
Mary Ann Simchick, 76, of 321 Woodland Ave., Johnsonburg, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 11, 2011, at Bradford Regional Medical Center in Bradford following a short illness.
She was born Dec. 13, 1934 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Frank and Rose Budzinski Kissel.
On June 16, 1956 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, she married Joseph L. Simchick, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2006.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1954.
Willis E. "Bill" Simon, age 82, of 501 High St., Johnsonburg, died suddenly Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Johnsonburg, son of Russell and Helen Myers Simon. On Aug. 7, 1948, he married Lucy Paladino in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg; she survives.
A 1946 Johnsonburg Area High School graduate, he received a degree in instrumentation from the International Correspondence School.
Jane E. Gausman, 59, of 872 Brusselles St., St. Marys, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at the Life Care Hospital in Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 4, 1951 in Genesee, daughter of the late Earl and Leota Holt Truax.
On July 4, 1971, in Genesee, she married Joseph R. Gausman, who survives.
She was a graduate of Northern Potter High School, Class of 1971. She had been a resident of St. Marys for the past 41 years.
Anne Richardson (Lewallen) Forbes, 87, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at Emeritus at Harrisonburg.
Harold R. Young, age 87, of 108 Irishtown Rd., Kersey died Monday morning at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 1, 1923 in Brockway, son of the late Thomas R. and Stella B. (Truesdale) Young. He had resided in the Kersey area for over 40 years and was a member of the Kersey United Methodist Church, the Fox Township Fire Department, the American Legion Post #511, the Toby Grange where he was a past Master, the Fox Township Senior Center. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific and was a Veteran of WWII. He had been employed by Stackpole Carbon Co.
Ridgway wrestling coach Gary Gerber earned his 400th career coaching win at the Towanda Duals Saturday.
Gerber's 400th win came as the Elkers opened the Duals with a 41-24 victory over Milton.
"It felt great," Gerber said. "It's been great to be a part of Ridgway wrestling."
Ridgway finished with a 4-1 record in Towanda.
"The kids wrestled well all weekend," Gerber said. "We beat Port Allegany, another good team in the district and Towanda was a tough team."
