The Ridgway Area School District Board of Directors held a reorganizational meeting in the Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School Library prior to their regular meeting Monday night.
Board member Lisa Connelly was elected as board president.
Board member William Seely nominated Gloria Almquist-Shull and Lucy Bobby for president, all of which respectfully declined the nomination.
"Thank you, but I wish to decline," Almquist-Shull said. "I am away in the winter and I don't feel I could do the job justice, but thank you for the nomination."
JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg native Laura Lechien has chosen to dedicate her time in order to better the community.
Lechien teaches an Aero/tone fitness class at the Johnsonburg Community Center where all proceeds are donated to the community center.
“I don’t get anything out of it. Members have to pay a membership fee to the building,” Lechien said. “I am blessed with a good job, so I decided I would do this to give back to the community.”
Thomas G. Schreiber, 69, of 1127 E. Eschbach Rd., St. Marys, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at the Christ the King Manor in DuBois as a result of an automobile accident that occurred on Nov. 14, 2011.
He was born Aug. 31, 1942, in St. Marys, son of the late Ambrose and Bertha Brem Schreiber. On July 18, 1970, in the St. Boniface Church in Kersey, he married Connie M. Lorenzini and she survives.
Andrew Luke, age 70, formerly of Brockport, more currently a resident at Jefferson Court in Brookville. died Dec. 3, 2011 at Brookville Hospital.
He was born July 31, 1941 in Crenshaw to Henry and Matilda Zamboni Luke.
Andy attended St. Tobias in Brockway. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as playing board games and cards.
He is survived by one sister, Carol A. Connacher of Brockport, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frank, Larry and James Luke.
