A local father's three-year campaign of searching for answers and seeking justice in the death of his daughter led him Friday to the steps of the Elk County Courthouse in Ridgway, where he spoke before news cameras and a group of concerned community members who gathered to show support for his cause.
A special ceremony was held in the Elk County Courthouse Courtroom Wednesday afternoon to swear in attorney Brittany A. Roof to the bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Elk County President Judge Richard A. Masson, district attorney Bradley Kraus, Roof's family members and other members of the bar were on hand to witness Roof's admission.
Jerome T. "Jump" Hasselman, 77, of 122 Laurel Lane, Kersey, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 29, 1933, in St. Marys, son of the late George and Anna Woelfel Hasselman.
On June 2, 1956, in the St. Mark Church in Emporium, he married Mary C. Brennan, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1951. He was the owner of the former Weigh Scale Bar in St. Marys and the Wayside Inn in Kersey and retired as an insurance inspector for MIB of Harrisburg.
Jane E. Price, 96, of DuBois, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011 at the Christ the King Manor.
Born on Feb. 28, 1915 in Ridgway, she was the daughter of the late Roy B. Ely and Jane (May) Ely. She was married to Thomas F. Price; he preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1983.
She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church, the Rosary-Altar Society, Christ the King Auxiliary, the DuBois Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, the Elk County Historical Society and the Legion Auxiliary.
Jane is survived by a sister, Elizabeth E. Verbeck of Ridgway and several nieces and nephews.
Raymond S. "Sparkey" Yale, 83, of Daniel Street Brockport, died November 23, 2011 at his residence.
He was born January 11, 1928 in Brockport, son of the late Eli and Bernice Sidelinger Yale. He was married on February 3, 1951 to Erma Zuccolotto. She survives.
