ST. MARYS â€“ In a game filled primarily with defense, one touchdown made the difference as to which of these county rivals goes to the district playoffs.
Cole Gerber's 1-yard touchdown run with 2:56 left in the fourth quarter was enough to give Elk County Catholic a 7-0 win over Ridgway Friday night at Dutch Country Stadium and push Elk County Catholic to a District 9 Class A playoff berth.
The Crusaders moved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the AML South while Ridgway drops to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the AML South.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Elaine Parana is a Reiki Practitioner. Parana has been practicing Reiki since 2002 but just recently opened her own shop in her home.
She says Reiki is an old Japanese hands-on healing and relaxation treatment.
â€śReiki promotes healing in the body, mind and spirit,â€ť Parana said. â€śIt is an alternative healing method that enhances regular medical care.â€ť
Some people may be skeptical of Reiki, but Parana assures it is essentially a channeling of energy from the universe.
Clark A. Hawkins, Ph.D., 78, of 528 Sawmill Run Road, Kersey, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held in the Toby Methodist Church on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joni Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Elkton Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
